(Exercising Your Mind) What is the reason that you’re in business?
- Is it because you want to break free from your job?
- Would you like to be financially independent, or make a lot of money?
- Maybe you would like to make a difference in the world by creating something revolutionary?
Whatever your reasons are for wanting to be in business, I am sure you want to stay in business for as long as you decide, instead of failing and having circumstances decide when you stop.
And I am going to take a big leap and guess that you would like your business to at least have integrity by under-promising while over-delivering.
And maybe, just maybe – you have even higher aims to run a business that is so responsible, it is even ethical.
But wherever you stand in this range or spectrum of ideals, you need to stay in business for as long as you want to instead of that being decided for you.
I will share with you the whole secret to business, and how to stay inn business.
The Secret, The Whole Secret, and Nothing but the Secret
One of my distant mentors Dan Kennedy, famous in the Direct Marketing industry has famously said that “The highest paid skill on the planet is getting people through the door. And the person who knows how to do this, gets all the money“.
What do you think Mr. Kennedy is telling us here?
What about this more revealing statement?

Got it yet? Maybe you’ve known all along, but allow me to continue to break it down with the highest definition so far of the whole secret to business.
HD: The High Definition
No matter what business you are in, in order to stay in business, you must change your perspective to acknowledge that you are in the “money getting business”.
You are in the business of getting in touch with people and convincing them to give you their money for your product, service, or result.
It does not matter if you have the world’s greatest whatever it is.
If people do not know about what you have to offer, they can not give you money to get whatever it is you have that serves their needs and desires.
The whole secret to business is getting money for your business. It is up to you whether or not you over-deliver and under-promise.
It is your decision to make if it will be responsible or ethical.
But if you want to remain in business and be financially successful, you have to know how to ask for the money – because that’s the whole secret to business.
